What is Jaris CMS?

A content management system that facilitates the administration and editing of a website or web application without the need of advanced programming knowledge for its basic usage.

You will be able to manage your site elements easily like menus, blocks, categories, content and translations, also you will be able to add users with specific permissions assigned to a group and a lot more which we will be discussing on the next sections of this guide.

Brief history

The name Jaris was selected after trying various combinations with the names of the author daughter and wife, CMS stands for Content Management System. The system development was started the year in which JegoYalu officially started its operations in 2008. Around the first 4 months of development the first versions of the core where born without a graphical interface for its management. It wasn't until almost a year that Jaris ended with most of the features that it has today which have been refined and improved over the years.

Design

Jaris is completely modular, which means that the addition of new functionality and features is possible without the re-codification of the entire system. This permits the reutilization of the core environment by extending it as necessary. At present we have programmed a variety of modules that add various features to the base system like e-commerce, blog, real estate, products catalog, galleries, statistics and much more.

The system was developed with the PHP programming language when version 4 was still popular, so you will not find many of the shiny things that where added to newer versions of the PHP language, but somehow this has helped to get better performance ;) Other technologies used are HTML, JavaScript and CSS. Also the system incorporates other great open source projects like Jquery.
